This year, resolve to be more productive at work by getting rid of bad work habits. Here is a look at 10 common ones to ditch:

  • Taking frequent “breaks” to browse the internet throughout the workday.
  • Putting off important tasks until the end of the day, instead of tackling them first thing.
  • Scheduling unnecessary meetings when matters could be settled with an email or phone call.
  • “Rewarding yourself” for being productive by taking an extra break or letting yourself dawdle.
  • Sleeping in and hitting the snooze button rather than getting right to work in the morning.
  • Forgetting to arrange your tasks in order to importance and tackling them in that order.
  • Planning your day so that there’s no time left for last-minute tasks that come up.
  • Failing to plan at all. Often, this results in you getting a lot less done.
  • Using your phone while falling asleep. The light exposure keeps you from getting restful sleep, which makes work.
  • Trying to multitask. Very few people are more productive when multitasking than when tackling one task at a time.
