  • Come to terms with it: One of the first steps you can take when it comes to moving past job burnout is getting real with yourself and coming to terms with the fact that you are experiencing it. It is best to journal about how you are feeling about work or discuss it with an outsider so you can let all of your feelings out without jeopardizing your job during a funk.
  • Take control and re-organize: In addition to coming to terms with the situation, in order for you to regain power, you have to take back control. If you have found yourself too overwhelmed with the tasks at hand, it may be time to re-organize. Set up a system that feels good to you. Decide on how many meetings you will attend a day so that you don’t get overwhelmed. You can also re-prioritize your to-do list in order to make sure you are not forgetting anything.
  • Devise a career plan: After you have accepted the fact that you are going through job burnout, and have taken steps to get re-organized, it is time to come up with a plan. More often than not, people find themselves going through job burnout because they have not mapped out a career plan for themselves. It can be difficult to become motivated if you cannot see where you are going. Come up with a plan of where you would like to see yourself, whether in your current role or a new one, and the steps you plan on taking in order to get there.
