Job hunting can be exhausting, making it important for job hunters to remain motivated by learning how to release that pressure as much as possible.

For that precise purpose, here are 5 things that job hunters can stop obsessing over:

  • Your resume needs to stand out, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be presented in the fanciest manner possible. Don’t tweak it to excess. In this as in other things, substance matters more than style.
  • On a related note, feel free to have more than one page for your resume so long as the information is relevant to the position. You don’t want your qualifications to disappear in a sea of meaningless fluff.
  • Sending a note after the interview is still important. Send a thank you email promptly after the interview and additionally, as a nice touch, mail or drop off a personally written note.
  • Don’t worry about cramming all of your qualifications onto your cover letter. Instead, use it to convey what your resume can’t. Namely, a sense of your personality.
  • Don’t throw all of your eggs in one basket and make yourself crazy.  Keep job hunting while you wait.
